Term 4 Week 10 Newsletter - 14.12.23
Principal News
Dear families,
Friday sees the end of another wonderful year at OLHC. We are very proud of our students and their achievements throughout the year. It has been very rewarding to watch our students grow and challenge themselves in many different ways. Our students have each excelled in different ways- from learning to sport, community service and creative endeavours and we are so fortunate to be able to watch and support each child to realise their potential.
Last Friday, we celebrated our annual Christmas Tableau. The students did a beautiful job of representing the story of our Saviour’s birth and the period of waiting that led up to it. Advent is a time to prepare to celebrate Christmas with joy, but is also an opportunity to think about those that are less fortunate than us – people who are waiting for Christmas in the same way we are, but with very different thoughts and experiences to ours. We sincerely thank the school community for the donations towards our Christmas Hampers and toys for the children in hospital as it is these little things that can make such a huge difference for a family in need.
We want to express our gratitude to all of our school families for your support of our school, its staff and your children throughout the year. We are blessed to have such an amazing school community who are all working together to give our students a wonderful school experience. We wish you all a joyful Christmas and a safe and prosperous new year. We hope you enjoy this special time of Christmas with your family and we look forward to working together in 2024.
Best wishes,
Katie, Kristy and the OLHC team.

2023 Christmas Hapers and Toy Drive
THANK YOU ALL for your generous donations of food items for our Hampers and toys for the Children's ward at Lismore Base Hospital. We have an incredibly generous community and it was a very proud moment when Rebekka Battista from Our Kids arrived to collect the toys on behalf of the hospital and, also the left over hampers that weren't distributed to families in our school commuity, for Our House.
There were 5 boxes of toys and a total of 12 Hampers with extra items that we couldn't fit in!
Thank you all for your amazing support over 2023! And we look forward to supporting our community in 2024.

Laini Lynch - BJP Physical Culture
On the 25th of November, Laini Lycnh traveled to Sydney to compete in the BJP Physical Culture Tournament. Laini walked away as a National 10 Years Semi-Finalist. As a school, we congratulate Laini on this outstanding achievement.
What is Physie? Physie (BjP Physical Culture) is a uniquely Australian form of dance. Physie dances combine ballet, aerobics, gymnastics, contemporary and modern jazz. All routines are choreographed to develop strength, grace, coordination, and flexibility.
Physie offers competitions for teams and individuals. Competitions are set up for age groups, from 5 years old to 50+.
The training that girls receive in Physie classes can give them focus and ability to achieve their goals outside Physie - at school. Physie’s emphasis on teamwork and self-motivation helps students achieve greater academic results and better social skills. Every year Physie helps shy, reserved girls to blossom with confidence and perform on stage for an audience. Being part of a supportive, encouraging community does wonders for girls’ self-esteem.
At OLHC, we love celebrating the sporting achievements of all our students. If your child has a special achievement that you would love for us to share with the school community, please send any photos and a short paragraph outlining their achievement to Mrs McCarthy - haylee.mccarthy@lism.catholic.edu.au
