Our School Patrons

Our School Houses

Students belong to four house teams that promote connections to our Catholic story and a deeper sense of belonging.  Houses are used for sporting events, assemblies and gatherings.

MacKillop – Purple

MacKillop House is named after Saint Mary MacKillop of the Cross, who was the founder of the Sisters of St Joseph. The colour of MacKillop House is purple.

Brady – Green

Brady House is named after Sister Theresa Brady, the first Principal of Our Lady Help of Christians. The colour of Brady House is Green.

Nagle – Gold 

Nagle House is named after Nano Nagle, who founded the Order of the Sisters of the Presentation of Mary in Ireland in 1775. The colour of Nagle House is Gold.

McGrath – Red

McGrath House is named after Father Daniel Francis McGrath, the first Parish Priest of the South Lismore Parish (1939 - 1971). The colour of McGrath House is red.

School Patron

Mary, under the title of Help of Christians, was chosen as the patroness of Australia at the first Provincial Synod of Sydney. The early parishioners of South Lismore chose Our Lady Help of Christians as patroness of our parish and school.

In 'Mary of the Southern Cross', we see what artist Paul Newton shares about his painting:

'She is totally focused upon him and holds him affectionately to herself… at the same time, she holds him so as to face us, the viewers, as if presenting or giving him to us.'

'I wanted to suggest in Mary’s demeanour serenity and great humility, not
drawing attention to herself but rather to her son.'

We want to emulate Mary in drawing attention to her Son in our words and
actions.
